My kitten thought that wrapping Christmas presents over the weekend was a wonderful game. Oh yes. Tremendous fun was had. Also, she's become obsessed with the sealant around the frames of the double glazing, having figured out that if she works really hard at it, she can actually peel the stuff off and have herself all kinds of a good time. It's less of a good time for me, though, when the net curtains are pulled down and plant pots tipped off the windowsills in the process. I'm looking forward to when she gets past the kitten stage and becomes old and staid and boring!

Had a busy day yesterday. We had Sunday School first thing, followed by a quick lunch and then out to visit one of Dad's sister's, because his other sister and her husband were visiting from Oxford for the day. We don't get to see them often, so it's always nice to catch up and spend a bit of time together. Ruth's husband Stan was diagnosed with advanced prostate cancer about 18 months ago, and was told he could last five years, perhaps, with treatment. He's looking really well, so far, it has to be said - you'd never know there was anything wrong to look at him. But I've had volunteers with the same thing, and they can stay well for ages, but then when they start to go down, it happens really fast. So we have to make the most of every visit, because it could be the last, really.

Then after that it was a quick dash back to the chapel, where we were laying on a little tea party for the Sunday School and their parents, and then our first carol service of the year, with the kids doing their Nativity play in the evening. We don't have a huge Sunday School, and half of the kids seem to have some degree of learning disability or another, but they are all lovely, and did really well. I was proud of them all. One of the four-year-olds then fell asleep in my lap, so I was completely stuck for a bit, until her mother came to rescue me!
