networking
Jul. 18th, 2007 04:43 pmSpent most of today manning an information stand at a Voluntary Sector Compact event at City Hall. It was a really long day - so hot and stuffy in the Marble Hall, where we were. I love City Hall, mind. It looks good from outside, and is absolutely gorgeous inside.
My feet are killing me now, though, after standing around all day, and I practically lost my voice I talked to so many people. It was good, though. Did a lot of networking with other voluntary agencies, handed out tons of leaflets to prospective volunteers, gave away stacks of the little knitted teddies that our volunteers make (we put ribbons on them declaring who we are and giving our phone number - subtle advertising!), so all in all it was a successful day. Even if I did wish I could just call everyone to gather round so I could give my spiel about volunteering with our organisation just the one time! Got so bored with saying the same thing over and over...
The best part was when the Hindu Cultural Society put on a display of Bollywood dancing. That was awesome!
