May. 15th, 2006 09:06 amBack home again from a packed weekend away with the family, visiting Big Sis and her husband at their new place in Crowborough.
Deb and Ray's new place is lovely - a maisonette (a big maisonette) tucked away at the end of a private road in a pretty little town, great view, no noise, plenty of space, nice garden, heaven.
Adoption plans are definitely on track, although no final decision has been made yet. Deb asked me to be a second named carer for them, to support their application - kind of like a godparent, to demonstrate explicitly that if anything happens to them, someone would take care of the child. I said yes, of course - it's family. If anything happened to them, obviously I -we - would take care of their child. Deb also had The Conversation with Chelsea, telling her about the adoption plans. That was a biggie - Chelsea gets very insecure and very jealous, has to be handled carefully.
So, in another year or two, if all goes well and they are approved, I could be an aunt and godparent.
Saturday we all went to Chessington World of Adventure. Lots of fun, although I don't recommend going there with a headache. If I could have shifted mine, I'd have enjoyed it more. The Bubbleworks ride especially - the fountains look stunning in the strobe lights, but if you already have a headache going in those strobe lights can only make it worse, and thus you aren't going to appreciate it so much. Ditto the very cool Vampire Ride.
We had a good day. Very full. Wore ourselves out. Then yesterday we took Chelsea to a llama park. There a very frisky alpaca by the name of Casanova, and his attentions toward his harem of females, resulted in a very...interesting and educational conversation with a certain ten-year-old.
Got home very late last night, just in time to watch the end of Supernatural. Then collapsed straight into bed and woke this morning to find no food in the house whatsoever. Emergency breakfast supplies were purchased en route to work. A shopping trip beckons tonight, methinks.
