Mar. 4th, 2006 05:39 pmNo Small this weekend, mostly because I'm coming down with a cold and wanted peace and quiet to fight it off. Also because the folks picked me up straight from work last night to visit aunty Lel for her birthday, and took me straight home after - would have been very out of the way to call in at their house first for Small to pack her weekend bag.
Mostly, though, I'm just trying to get rid of this darned sore throat before it turns into a full blown cold.
Small has phoned me today to say she's glad she didn't come to sleep over for once. She is very excited by the arrival of a new family pet that she can call hers. She's been desperate for a pet of her own for ages now - both cats are older than her, and can be a bit sniffy toward her. She really wanted a puppy - the parents have compromised and bought her a hamster. It is called Buddy, she tells me. Because she wanted to call it Buffy, but it's a boy. Therefore - Buddy. This is how a nine-year-old's brain works!
Have spent the afternoon sipping lemsip and teaching myself how to transfer videos onto DVD using my DVD-R. Have got the hang of it now, so feeling proud.
Less proud of computer prowess. Brother Mine spent Thursday afternoon here installing the whizzy bit of hardware he got me for my birthday. Because I don't have a DVD drive on the 'puter, he'd hooked my old DVD player up to it, and got it working. But then he disconnected it all before leaving, and now I can't get it to work again. Have tried all the leads in every possible configuration, but no joy.
Bah.
On a brighter note, the next story in my Monico series is finished now, all bar the beta. It even has a name, at last. So, to stop myself tweaking it, I made myself a little promo picture: Malignancy
Will probably continue to play with the design for some time to come...
