Having a pretty good Saturday so far. Small and I went into town so she could spend her pocket money - she wanted a new game for her Gameboy. The one she really wanted was £30, and she only had £16, so she very sensibly compromised and picked one that was £19.99 and I subbed her a fiver.

She's good at getting spoiled!

We then went to the museum - our best visit ever. Usually Small gets freaked out by the dinosaurs (but insists on going in to see them anyway). Today we avoided the dinosaurs completely and visited other sections. She was interested, she asked questions, she read all the information alongside the exhibits...I was amazed. We had lunch there, and then came home.

At the museum we bought a small pack of face paints for £1.50. Back home we spent the early part of the afternoon decorating each other's faces - Small did me as a cat, and I did her as spiderman. She's still wearing hers, but within ten minutes of finishing mine she was freaked out and made me wipe it off so she could see me again!

She's now in the kitchen making cakes. By herself. So I'm hiding out here so I don't have to see the mess!

Small's cakes turned out pretty well, all things considered. Well done, Small.

She's decided she wants to be helpful. She made the cakes all by herself, and has been making cups of tea for me all day, as best she can. If she keeps this up, pretty soon I'll be able to start hiring her out...

My friend Molly phoned this evening. She's in hospital with a twisted bowel. I'm worried about her - she's 65 now, and has had a lot of health problems in the past. I mean, she's had cancer three times now. Fingers crossed she'll be okay again this time.
