POETS, so surely that means early home?
Not a bit of it. Friday afternoons now mean looking after the work experience girl Boss has recruited. She's 18, giggly, and does get a lot done that I don't have time for. Namely - she's transferring records to the new database, which I've been trying to get done for months now. All good stuff. But she also blows a hole in my Friday afternoons.
Tonight I'll go to my mum's for tea, where Small will promptly pounce upon me and nag to be allowed to sleep over again this weekend. I'll no doubt say yes, because I always do - she's too persuasive! Plus, I love her to bits and want to make the most of her still being young enough to want to hang out with her big sister. But Saturday is pretty much the only day I have to myself all week, so having Small every weekend means I lose a lot of what little time I have to get things done around the house.
So my plan is this. Let her stay this weekend, but insist on no nagging for next weekend, which is my birthday and I want it to myself. She'll nag anyway, but I really want my birthday weekend off!
This links back to the Katie (work experience girl) mention earlier. I'm planning to take the day off for my birthday next week. This means I'll either have to stand Katie down for the week, which would be a shame as she's only coming in for an hour or two a week as it is. Or I'll have to find out if someone else can come in and supervise her.
And just how did I end up supervising people anyway? I don't get paid to supervise, either staff or volunteers, so how come I'm the one who has to try to arrange/negotiate days off around the volunteers?
