Sep. 18th, 2005 08:46 pmLast Thursday morning, I went out in the rain, and had no sooner set foot past the front door than I slipped on a wet tile and fell flat on my bum. At the time I was mostly concerned with picking myself up, rushing back into the house, and quickly getting changed out of damp dirty trousers into something dryer and cleaner for work. But now, a few days later, I'm more concerned with the enormous bruise that has come out just below my wrist, right on the bone. It hurts! And it's my typing-and-mouse hand! Hopefully it'll heal up soon.
After the deaths, we get the funerals. Typically, they are both on the same day. Larry's is at 12pm on Thursday, and Mike's 3pm the same day. I'm not going to Larry's. I haven't seen him since I was 9 years old, and it is in Bridgend, so I wouldn't be able to get there and back in time for Mike's, which I'm really not going to miss. We had a very emotional service in church tonight. Mike was, in his own quiet, unassuming way, a lynchpin there. He was such a gentle soul - he'd have done anything for anyone. And did. Only three days and already so badly missed. His brother-in-law was in tears.
I've had Small here all weekend, so now feel badly in need of a rest. She is very...determined. And wearing. But fun. We've watched pretty much the whole of Buffy season 5 in two weekends. Small really indentifies with the character of Dawn, who first appears in that season. We also went swimming, made cakes, played in the park, had girly hang-out time...
Actually, to be fair, I felt in need of a rest before having Small for the weekend. I've bought paint this afternoon to decorate my bedroom next weekend and, since I'm taking time off for the funeral on Thursday, I might just let the pile of work on my desk go jump and take the whole of Thursday and Friday off. I could start painting on Friday then. We shall see. It is going to be a busy week anyway - I have a really long fic I promised to edit, a staff meeting in Aberystwyth to get to and from on Wednesday, a seminar on Wednesday evening to attend...
Yup. Going to be a busy week.
