Small always manages to wear me out when she stays over for the weekend.

Friday night I brought her home with me. We then had to go straight back out to rent a DVD and buy ice cream and other essentials of a girly night in front of a film. En route we gave directions to a lost soul who then wandered down the street with us as far as the destination she had completely overshot and chattered randomly to us like long-lost friends.

Saturday we played lots of tennis, cricket and football. Watched more vids. And then went to see the Wales-England game at the Mill Stadium. We lost, but only 1-0, so it was respectable. Wales played well enough - defended stoutly and had a few good and one excellent chance at goal. My fellow 'fans' annoyed me immensely by booing the English national anthem (although I don't see why the English team uses the British anthem, but that's another story and I've already had a row with Bastin over it today, so shan't get into that again here) but on the whole the atmosphere was pretty good (if decidedly more...personally competetive than normal. We left five minutes early however, as some of the crowd were getting restless and I didn't want Small to get caught up in the crush on the way out with that kind of mood. Just in case. We avoided all areas that tend to be flashpoints, but have not heard of any trouble, so the immense police presence must have worked. Caught a bus home, and spent more of the journey chatting to the chap sat next to us who had a catfish in his bag, newly acquired and carefully being transported home to his tank. You meet all sorts travelling on the bus.

Back home, we made cakes and had an indoor picnic. And played football again. And then watched more vids before bed. I have now seen a Mary-Kate and Ashley film for the first time.

Today - We were woken early by the Izzy-cat. Small was delighted; me less so. Then took Small home again. Sunday School was back in session so I had my class for our first lesson of the new term. Half the class anyway - two out of the four were in holiday and in weekend respite care. My Calico cat was, as always, delighted to see me and spent most of the day following me around hoping I'd sit down so she could jump on my lap. When I sat at the computer and thwarted her in this hope, she curled up on my feet, and later on the printer with her head on my knee. The cat of very little brain she has always been.

And now - back home. Should be tidying up after Small, but really can't be bothered. Maybe later...
