Have just spent a beautifully relaxing day at Sophia Gardens watching the third (and, it transpires, final) day of a County Championship match between Glamorgan and Kent. Glamorgan were comprensively thrashed, being forced to follow-on and at one stage being at the truly pathetic 3 for 5. But no matter. I had a great day. It was warm, it was sunny, I took a picnic, read the papers, chatted randomly to the friend I was with, met up with my cousin who turned up mid afternoon, and just generally chilled out.

We decided that the Kent bowler Martin Saggers has the best name ever. Saggers.

And the best moment was when the Kent twelth man, rushing out to provide water for his thirsty teammates during a change of batsman (which happened frequently, Glamorgan collapsing so completely) ran straight into a wall with a loud bang and even louder howl of pain. It was hilarious.

We were sitting directly in front of the Kent team room, within touching distance of the players as they came in and out. There aren't many sports left where you can get that close to the players. And Glamorgan were having a reunion of former players, many of whom were sitting all around us. Of course, this is because we'd sat ourselves in the members section, despite not being members. Well, why not? Nobody stops you from sitting wherever you want. Once you're in through the gate, you can pretty much go wherever you feel like.

I left just after the players came back out after tea, since I was having mine at my mum's, and after the meal took Little Sis to the park to kick a football around for a while. We had fun.

So, all in all, a lovely day.
