Alien

There was an alien in my house last night. It came twice, in fact.

There I was, trying to get to sleep after a cosy evening in with Himself watching Firefly, when all of a sudden I'm awoken by the sound of my Poppy-cat growling out on the landing. So I investigate, and there it is - an alien cat venturing upstairs to see what it could see.

Now, this cat is an alien but not a stranger - it's been sneaking in stealing food for quite some time now. At first I thought it might be my Macavity cat come back, because I couldn't get a close enough look at it to see more than a flash of tabby, and the MO is much the same, but I know now that it isn't Macavity, just another tabby of similar ilk.

Apparently tabby cats are my fate, or something.

Anyway, I chased the cat out of the house, because I really can't have aliens coming in disturbing my sleep and my cats' equilibrium in the middle of the night. Went back to bed, fell asleep - and blow me down if about three hours later the exact same thing doesn't happen again.

I hope this isn't going to be the start of an ongoing trend. I need my sleep - and Poppy's nerves won't stand for it!

So, that's the story of the cat called Alien.

:( Aliens are just so inconsiderate.

Was Himself already a Firefly fan, or are you educating him?

He's already a Firefly fan and adores the fact that I love the show, too - I think my model of Serenity is one of the reasons he likes me...:D I'm definitely a bigger Show geek than he is, though!

I still haven't identified whether Alien is a male or female cat - I'm leaning toward female (or maybe neutered tom) because it doesn't seem to be spraying, which is a relief given how often it shows up. It won't let me get close enough for a proper look, though - these cats and their modesty! It looks to be in good condition (all fluffy and sleek), so I don't think it's a starving stray - just greedy!

I'm glad he has good taste in shows, even if he doesn't know as many as you! Are you introducing him to anything new? A Serenity model sounds great, by the way, very cool.

I'm glad they're not spraying, whoever they are! It sounds like they probably are just greedy if they're sleek and fluffy, and neutered too. It's annoying when it's one of those--you can forgive them when they're a starving stray, but when it's a greedy cat waking you that's very annoying.

I think there are plenty of shows we can introduce each other to, as well as enjoying those we're both already fans of - but I'm definitely a bit more hardcore about my fandom than he is. I mean, I doubt he even knows what an internet discussion forum is...never mind fanfiction! :D

He would dearly love to get me into Stargate - we've already watched one episode together. For my part, I'm thinking Classic Doctor Who might be the ultimate challenge...

Wow, he'll have a lot to learn about fandom then! :)

I've tried watching Stargate a few times, but it doesn't seem to stick with me very well. Classic Doctor Who is definitely worth a shot though.

I think tabby cats are fated to be a pain in my arse. :)

Random aliens can be so rude. Next time it should ask before entering! And not bother you during bedtime.
