I'm so glad I took extra days off after the new year holiday - not going back till Thursday. Excellent. And, just to clarify on this point, I did arrange this with my Boss. We had a conversation about it. I distinctly remember that - she asked me when I was returning to work after the holiday, I said the Thursday following New Year, and she said okay. I remember specifically because I thought it was ludicrous that she was asking me, rather than me going to her to have my leave signed off.

This morning she phoned to see if anything was wrong because I wasn't in work and hadn't left a message. I reminded her of our conversation, but could tell she had absolutely no memory of it.

I was highly amused at the concept of her being in the office wondering where I was for a change!

Met Mum and Small in town this afternoon for a spot of shopping, which mostly involved investing Small's pocket money (and a tidy amount by me!) in clothes for her new bear, Joshua. We also stopped for a cup of tea, and Small had a chocolate eclair - managing to get her hair full of cream in the process.

"It's not cream," she rather loftily told me. "It's grey hair. I'm getting old, you know. I'm a mature woman."

She's ten. Honestly.

Awww, sounds a lovely shopping expedition - one of the things I miss most about my daughter having moved away. Though I haven't bought clothes for her teddy for a while, like nearly twenty years! I can imagine what they cost, though! I always have to smile at people (not necessarily little people, you understand!) leaving the Bear Factory at Cribbs Causeway with their special boxes cutaway so that the bear's faces show - more awww! I love the grey hair comment and "a mature woman" - lovely.
And it reminds me rather of shopping here last week for "accessories" for the hamster which daughter and boyfriend were buying! Things I hadn't appreciated hamsters might require - mineral licks, hamster ball, chews, chocolate drops, toys - which cost considerably more than the hamster itself, of course.
Enjoy the rest of your holiday - nice to know you're missed!

Me and my Boss are an ongoing saga. I never know whether to expect her in the office or not, never mind what time she's likely to turn up if she does come in. I like her a lot, we get along really well when she's around. She's just...frustratingly flaky. So her being there on her own for once and me being at home - that's payback! *G*

The bear clothes are extortionately expensive! The bears themselves are cheap enough, but once you start looking at the accessories, the price just rockets. It's scary. And Small has a hamster, too, who is always having little treats bought for him. :)

That "I'm getting old" comment is so cute!

My excuse on getting things in my hair was always, "I have a bad case of dandruff". Small's is much nicer!

LOL @ Small! How cute :D

"I was highly amused at the concept of her being in the office wondering where I was for a change!"

I find that hilariously evil. *lol*
