The writers need to get stories suitable for Capaldi ... he is not charismatic like Smith and Tennant. He is a fine actor, no doubt, but his pairing with Clara does not sit comfortable after her relationship with Matt's Doctor.

If rumours of her leaving at Christmas are true then hopefully the replacement will be a better match.
