(no subject)

Looooooong weekend. I've had Small here since Friday afternoon. We've watched a lot of Charmed. And Gilmore Girls. But mostly Charmed. My brain is now stew. We also played more cricket than I've ever played in my life. And tennis. But mostly cricket. Which is all fine and dandy and good exercise and everything, except that I tripped over a loose concrete slab and went down like a sack of spuds. My knee and chin are now purple, and I ripped a chunk off a toenail, right to the nailbed - nice and raw and bloody. Fun, huh. Accidents and exercise aside, though, she's been really good. Full of neuroses and obsessions, because that's part of her condition, but also incredibly sweet and funny. The cat has been hilarious, as well - she absolutely loves it when we play cricket and tennis, chases after all the loose balls and skips around like a little lamb. I just wish I could wield a video camera at the same time as playing. I'm not sure which was funnier: when Poppy all but somersaulted, flipping herwelf over the ball in an attempt to subdue it, or when she lay down on top of it like a chicken trying to hatch an egg!

My cousin is doing well after his transplant - thank you all for your kind thoughts. The new kidney is functioning well so far. Here's hoping it continues that way - it's still really early days.

Last week I had a job interview in Llandaff. Didn't get the job, but I took a bunch of pictures of the Cathedral while I was there. I just posted a picspam over at [livejournal.com profile] scene_again, if anyone's interested:

Cathedral Picspam

I'm fairly sure I had something else to say, but my brain is tapioca. Some other time, perhaps.

Heh, sounds like you had a lot of fun with Small! :) But ouch for the accident, now you know how Sam felt in AVSC with that fingernail! *g*

That's some beautiful pictures of the Cathedral! I really should do more sightseeing around here as well. I know embarrasingly little about the area where I live and whenever you post one of your picspams I am reminded of that fact LOL.

*hugs*

You're back! Good weekend?

And yes, you should. I want to see the pretty places where you live! I'm sure they must exist, if you just go looking for them.

[identity profile] galathea-snb.livejournal.com 2008-07-22 06:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Heh, yeah, came back this afternoon and playing catch-up ever since! :) I had a nice time with my sister, spent lots of time with the kiddies of course and in the evening we were mostly watching movies. *g*

I don't even have a camera, so I couldn't take pictures to show you the area. *lol* The landscape is very pretty here, vinyards, hills and forests, I just don't know a lot about the places around, historical sites and such. I really should change that in case someone comes for a visit and I have to show them around. LOL

Heh. Ditto the getting back this afternoon, except in my case it was taking The Girl home this afternoon and then falling over in a heap.

You can pick up a decent camera pretty cheap these days, you know... And yes, you should change your shocking lack of local knowledge! I want to know about your pretty vineyards, hills and forests. *sticks tongue out*

ROFL kids are so exhausting, no? I love them like crazy, but I am always happy to be back home as well. My youngest nephew in particular is just in one of those phases where he doesn't listen to a thing you say and throws a fit if something doesn't go his way .. he was driving me nuts! LOL

But, but if I had a camera people would probably expect me to make pictures and picspams and god forbid take pics of myself! *shudders*

Kids are VERY exhausting. But all the more loveable when you know you can hand them back at the end of the day. How old are your nephews now?

if I had a camera people would probably expect me to make pictures and picspams
Absolutely. *G* It is fun! Going for walks and spotting pretty or unusual or just plain striking sights that are worth recording and talking about. And if you don't start preparing yourself now, how on earth will you manage to play tour guide to me when we are both old and have blue rinses and zimmer frames and finally manage to visit one another?!?!

[identity profile] galathea-snb.livejournal.com 2008-07-22 10:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Heh, true that! My nephews are 4/6/9 yrs old. All three of them together are mad chaos, but take just one of them out of the equation and everything works fine LOL. See, I was thinking of the wee!chesters this weekend when the oldest was told to help the 4 yr old with getting dressed and was totally overwhelmed with that task because the little one was throwing one of his fits. LOL I am thinking way too much about these things! *g*

I am not much of a 'going out and take a walk' kind of girl LOL, but I promise you, should you ever come to visit me, old spinsters or not, I will be prepared! :)

[identity profile] llywela13.livejournal.com 2008-07-23 07:08 am (UTC)(link)
Aww. You aren't the only one who thinks too much - I think anyone who has anything to do with children shudders at the thought of those boys being left alone so young!

Hmm. My mission in life, should I choose to accept it, will be to turn you into a 'go out and take a walk' kind of girl...LOL

Glad to hear your cousin is doing well. Fingers crossed it stays that way *hugs*

Ouchies for falling over :( Hope everything heals up quickly.

Thank you, honey!

It has taken a few days for the bruise to come out fully, but my entire kneecap is now black. No wonder I've been so stiff!

We'll keep him on the 'prayer wheel' for a while yet, as with [livejournal.com profile] tatianitska's mum and other folks. At least it's one thing I can do from so far away!

Huggles . . . .

Thank you - it really is much appreciated.

LOL @ the thought of your brain being stew after overdosing on Charmed etc.

I hope you are mending fast after falling over. Ouch!

It's so good to hear that your cousin is doing well. I hope he continues to get better and better. :D

Love the picspam - as usual. You take really interesting pictures.
