I think my cat must be a Doctor Who fan, because she curled up on my lap for the whole of tonight's episode - and Poppy really doesn't do laps, not on the sofa, anyway; she quite likes to cwtch at the computer - and then jumped off again as soon as it ended. Strange girl.

Now, I don't do this meme often - in fact, I can't remember when I've done it before! But I've seen this doing the rounds a couple of times now, and it's kind of interesting to see what everyone's desktops look like.

The rules:
1. Go to your desktop and press the Print Scrn key (located to the right side of the F12 key).
2. Open a graphics program (like Picture Manager, Paint, or Photoshop) and do a Paste (CTRL + V).
3. Post the picture on your blog. You can also give a short explanation about the look of your desktop if you want. You can explain why you prefer such a look or why it is full of icons, things like that.
4. Tag five of your friends and ask them to let you see their desktops as well.

Well, the wallpaper I happen to have on rotation at the moment turns out to be an advert for [livejournal.com profile] galathea_snb's beautiful fanart! I use the webshots programme, and have built up an enormous catalogue of really beautiful images that rotate on my desktop, changing every half hour or so. Most of 'em are nature shots - flowers, scenery and animals - but I've also added a folder full of wallpapers made by very talented fanartists. I don't actually look at the desktop all that often, but whenever I do there's a different wallpaper on display, which is kinda of cool. What I like most about the programme is the screensaver, which uses the same images, changing every 5-10 seconds depending on what I've got it set to, so that I can just sit staring at this slideshow of gorgeous images. The webshots programme also provides that very useful calendar in the top righthand corner.

Here 'tis!

ETA: And then half an hour later, it looks like this:

And so on. I could do this for days and you still wouldn't see 'em all!

I'm not going to tag anyone. I'll just see who picks it up.

Beautiful art, and I love the lions, too.

My desktop is still sparse and boring, but I have my desktop images set to change every 15 minutes. They're all personal pictures. It is nice to occasionally glance at something pretty and then stop and think, "Ah, yes, I remember that."

[livejournal.com profile] galathea_snb is very talented. ♥

My mother has all her personal pictures on rotation. I keep meaning to add some of mine into the programme, but then remember how many duds are among the pretties, and put 'organise pictures' on my to do list, only never get around to it, and...you get the picture. *G*

Great images, especially the big pussycats. :)

I didn't know one could rotate desktops!

Supernatural followed by lions - very eclectic. :D
I didn't know you could rotate desktop images either.

God, you're one of those icon hoggers. *g* I hate to have icons on my desktop, I usually have it pretty clean, with only a couple of folder links. If I have more than 5-8 links on my desktop I start cleaning them up!

Oh my, I really need to re-work that wallpaper LOL .. sometimes I want to remake all my older art /sigh

I have loads on mine but I have them all around the edge so they don't interrupt my view of Philip Glenister!

ETA: Sorry - I thought I was replying to someone I know!

Lovely pics, especially the lioness and cub, really cute.

I thought it was only screensavers that could rotate pictures. You live and learn. :)

My Mum has her desktop on rotation as part of the windows programme, although I'm not sure how she set it. Mine works as part of the webshots programme, which I've used for years. I love the choice of images - you can download 5 free professional images a day.

Yes. My wallpaper collection is very eclectic!

With the right programme, you can do just about anything!

I've got more icons at the moment than I'm really comfortable with - I should have a clean-up, I know!

ROFL. Such a perfectionist. I like it as it is! But...I often want to completely remake all my older recaps and fics, so I understand the urge. *G*

[identity profile] llywela13.livejournal.com 2008-06-15 06:33 am (UTC)(link)
Yep, with the right programme you can do all kinds of things!

I love the images I've gathered from webshots - you can download 5 free professional photos a day, and the selection is simply stunning.

Heh, no worries! ;) I have mine arranged at the bottom, so I have an unobstructed view on my desktop as well. *g*

Yup, go and clean up! LOl

I know! LOL Although, it's also good to see the progression that I had over the last 2 years as an artist. That's why I only rework older walls that I really want to upgrade because the concept behind it is very important to me and I want to give it my best, not to mention the time issues. LOL ;)

[identity profile] llywela13.livejournal.com 2008-06-15 08:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, it is good to be able to see your own progression. But I suppose remaking a few that you are really keen to revisit doesn't have to mean losing the originals - they could sit alongside one another represting the various stages of Chris!
