Eh, I didn't really like Tamara - she bugged the hell out of me for most of the episode. But if a recurring character was going to be introduced, I'd prefer it to be via a storyline like hers, rather than a slam, bang, enigmatic cliché, like Ruby. The character concept posed by Ruby's brief appearance was intriguing, but man, the execution was such a let down. If a new character is going to be introduced, I like it to be via storyline, interacting with other characters in a meaningful way so that they and we can get to know them a little, rather than being shoehorned into the plot for dramatic impact.

But who knows? Future episodes might sell me on the character completely. There's a whole fabulous season ahead of us!
