Meh. It sounds really, really wrong to my ears. And I firmly believe that if the character is British, she should say her name the British way.
I wouldn't mind seeing her again, though. See, if this Ruby had been introduced as Tamara, all would be good. That's how a recurring character should start: growing organically out of the storyline, rather than being shoehorned in just because the character needs to be introduced. Not with an enigmatic bang, but as a real, tangible person, someone the viewer feels they know pretty well and understands by the end of the episode, with whom the main characters have already shared an adventure and gained a rapport of some kind with. That's how Bobby started, and look how well that worked.
Ruby has been in three scenes so far, and already she's suffering from Roadhouse syndrome. The Roadhouse was shoehorned in for the sake of being introduced to the show, rather than ever being an integral part of the storyline, and it accordingly never really worked. I'm disappointed that the same thing seems to be happening again. But it's early days! I'm hopeful for the future, still. And so happy to have the boys back.
Um, sorry. That reply turned into a bit of a rant!
