So, I took my parents to the theatre this afternoon to see a show as their anniversary present - we saw Cats, which is on tour from the West End. The people in the row behind gossiped and giggled all the way through, very loudly. Was forced to take issue with them in the end, and then had a blazing row once the show was over. They felt having paid for their tickets entitled them to sit and discuss their diets all the way through the show. I felt that having paid for my ticket entitled me to actually hear the show, rather than learn all about their latest diet that wasn't working.

Yeah. A special level of hell.

Was the theater packed so that you couldn't ask for different seats ~ quite LOUDLY, if necessary ~ and explain that your tetchy stomach was likely to cause you to hurl into their laps if they didn't shut up??

Ugh...that is so incredibly irresponsible and rude and annoying. Seriously, they should have been ushered out of there early on.

It was a shame more patrons did not complain and they 'should' have then either kept quiet, or have been shown the door.

Cats has been going a long time in the UK. I saw that here in Oz back in 1986 - same week I saw that Shaw bloke in Are You Lonesome Tonight.

Funny - I was watching that episode of Firefly yesterday!!! Cats was here years and years ago!
