in mourning

My mum has just phoned to say that a really good friend of the family has died very suddenly this morning.
Bless his heart, I just saw him on Sunday and he was really bright and bubbly, just the loveliest bloke you could ever hope to meet. I gave him a huge hug and kiss because he was meant to be going into hospital tomorrow to have his hip replaced. And now he's gone and collapsed and died in his wife's arms...
Poor Joyce. And their poor kids and grandkids.
RIP Mike.

Date: 2005-09-16 06:44 am (UTC)I'm more upset about this than my Nan's boyfriend dying last month, because he was 94 and in such poor health. Mike was as fit as a fiddle when I saw him on Sunday - he'd had all those tests before his operation, and they said he was fine. And he was just such a lovely bloke - he and his wife were so sweet, kind, generous. I'm gutted for Joyce, and already know how much I'm going to miss Mike.
